My name is Emily Bouza and this online portfolio is a demonstration of my ability to meet the program learning objectives for the Master's in Professional and Technical Writing at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
I received my undergraduate degree in English from Kent State University. While I was there I worked as a writing tutor at the Writing Commons. I quickly rose to a management position where I ran a committee, trained new tutors, led meetings, and assisted in administrative decisions. After graduating, I was then hired as the Assistant Director of the Writing Center at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. I have now been working at this school for over two years. I am in charge of the daily operations of the writing center and I supervise and train all staff. I was drawn to the program at UALR because I needed a fully online option if I was going to continue in my current position and get a graduate degree in the field of composition. I specifically chose UALR because I wanted to receive the training in education through the Online Writing Instruction Certificate. I plan to finish my thesis and complete my last course for the degree by May 2018. I am currently applying to doctoral programs in rhetoric and composition. I hope to get accepted into a program with a full assistantship for the Fall 2018 semester at which point I will leave my current position to focus on my studies full-time. |
